Pedal Lyre Support Rods for Knabe Ampico
By Bob Conant

Andy Ott asked in 090817 MMDigest about the pedal lyre supports for
a 5'8" Knabe Ampico and I don't remember seeing anyone answer this.
I have a Knabe 5 foot, 8 inch in a Louis XV case so I don't know if
there would be any difference from another style case. I also did
not have the rods but most pianos have rods made of brass plated steel.

I made mine of stainless steel rod stock and polished them up a bit.
Both rods are the same length at 30 inches and the rod diameter is
3/8 inch. The lower end of each rod fits into a drilled hole in the
bottom piece of the pedal lyre. The top of each rod fits into a wood
block screwed to the bottom of the piano frame. All the holes for the
rods are drilled at a suitable angle to receive the end of the rod.

There is no adjuster other than possibly being able to shift the top
blocks slightly where they are screwed to the frame. Hopefully this
helps and agrees with any other responses you might have received.
