Hello Nick. In my own very limited experience, I've found that the
most popular musical box tunes from the era in question have been tunes
which are now termed "classics" but were then popular operatic melodies.
I'm sure that there were many barrels made of popular tunes of the day,
but I'd suppose that the only way to find those would be reading old
newspapers or contemporary novels.

Good luck on your most interesting project!
