Ampico Coding Workshop at AMICA Convention
By Bob Taylor

I need some input. My upcoming tech session at the Buffalo AMICA
convention will be dealing with Ampico roll coding. The trouble is
I have too much to talk about and need to narrow the scope of those
sessions. I must make a decision soon.

The choices of topics are:

1. General understanding of Ampico coding, both A and B styles;

2. The little known scheme of A coding which multiplies the "seven
   steps" by three;

3. The concert demonstration piano scheme of super expanded A coding.

The first topic is self explanatory. The second topic is really needed
for those who convert rolls into MIDI format or electronic files. Poor
understanding of coding results in poor reproduction. The third topic
is virtually unknown to collectors as it doesn't appear to be documented
anywhere. This scheme is used to drive specially equipped concert grand
pianos, yet it is the same scheme used on A pianos.

If I could get some response, then I would limit my session accordingly.
My initial plan was to concentrate of topic "2".

Thanks,
Bob Taylor
