FS: 1917 Steinway XR Duo-Art in Beverly Hills
By Mitchell Manger

For sale: 100% original unrestored 1917 Steinway & Sons XR Duo-Art
Pianola reproducing piano in excellent functional condition and
very-good-to-excellent cosmetic condition. The XR is essentially a
Steinway M grand piano with reproducing capability. In other words,
an XR is a 5' 7" piano in a 6'2"+ case.

Very nice unrestored, 100% original "living room" condition for
a 93-year-old piano from the "Golden Age" of Steinways. Beautiful
mahogany. No cracks in the soundboard, pinblock, no bridge. Quite
clean on the outside for its age, with several scratches. A little
dusty on the inside. Serial 1847XX.

6' 2" in length. Steinway Duo-Art Pianolas are typically several
inches longer than their non-reproducing/non-player equivalent models,
in order to house the player/reproducing action, which is why a XR is
the equivalent of a Steinway M.

It plays and sounds like butter, with no problems. The strings are
tuned. As for the Duo-Art Pianola player action, everything is 100%
original and unrestored. As this is an early Duo-Art Pianola model,
they used an external pump for the action. It is missing its external
pump. The rubber hosing and tubing is also dried out and needs
replacement.

The player parts are actually in incredible condition for being 100%
original and 93 years old, but of course if you want this Duo-Art
Pianola player/reproducing action to work, the player/reproducing
action will need some restoration.

The piano is located at my house in Beverly Hills. I can have it
shipped anywhere in the continental USA for between $200-1200,
depending on how far away you are. If shipped, moved, or picked up by
someone other than you, sold as-is, no returns. If picked up by you
in person, you may withdraw from the purchase upon pick up if the piano
does not meet your expectations. After that, no returns. Asking
$8900.

I would also be interested in a trade for a concert grand pedal harp,
