"Art of the Organ Grinder" at Morris Museum
By Jere Ryder

The Morris Museum, Morristown, New Jersey, would like to announce and
invite mechanical music enthusiasts in the region to join us as we
start a special program series, "Spotlight on the Guinness Collection."

The second and next program in this series is titled "The Art of the
Organ Grinder" and will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday,
November 18th, 2010.

In days gone by, organ grinders brought their melodies to both city
and countryside alike, but one listener's music was another's racket!
Join the Guinness Collection staff for this special one-hour program
as they explore how 19th century organ grinders and their instruments
were depicted through the ages. Participants will enjoy a special live
demonstration of select mechanical musical instruments made for outdoor
use and public entertainment.

This program will take place in the Guinness Resource Center on the
lower level and is limited to 20 attendees, price $5 for Morris
Museum members, $7.50 for non-members. Please call 1-973-971-3720 to
pre-register and/or leave your contact info so that you can receive
notice of upcoming programs, or visit the Morris Museum web site,
http://www.morrismuseum.org/
