Restore North America's Carousel Organs
By Claudine Jones

Well, I have not been up to Tilden Park in Berkeley in a couple of
months; the last time was when the music was cut off by a bad tape
cassette player. To fast forward through this story, the original
problem with the organ seems to have been that without a sound baffle
and a safety fence, local ordinances prevented the organ and the
carousel from operating. Neighbors also complained, etc., and in
conversation with the caretaker, it appears that trying to get support
from the Parks & Recreation Dept. folks is a very tenuous matter,
up to and including deliberate bad will if they are 'pushed'. :-(

So, the organ is _capable_ of being played, it's the humans that are in
the way. I would love to contribute to the solution, but invitations
are hard to come by in this case. :-)
