Thorens AD30 Worm Gear Adjustment
By Chris Kocsis

My Thorens AD30 movement had a broken plastic gear so I bought a new
one and installed it. The movement then played haltingly so I loosened
and backed off the end bearings of the worm gear and speed regulator,
where it seems the grease at the ends has hardened.

I now realize I am getting in over my head and find that I cannot
adjust it properly to play (nor have I greased it yet, uncertain what
to use). The bearing cups on the ends seem to be eccentric and I can't
find the right position of rotation plus centering of the shaft between
the cups.

Can I buy adjustment instructions? I'd like to do the job myself but
it may be time for someone to step in who knows what he or she is
doing.

Best regards,
Chris Kocsis
