QRS Christmas Collectors' Rolls
By Jack M. Conway

Hi Group, Larry Schuette asked about QRS Christmas Collectors'
Rolls. The roll numbers of the entire series are XMAS-(and the year
of release). The three rolls that you mention would be XMAS-1983,
XMAS-1984, and XMAS-1987. There is no standard roll number on either
the box or roll label.

All of the rolls are punched on Christmas gift wrap paper and therefore
do not have words printed on them. This means that there is no roll
number printed at the of the roll.

XMAS-1984 is interesting. The paper manufacturer apparently did not
understand how the paper was to be used. The design on the paper is
rotated 90 degrees from vertical which means the design scrolls by
sideways.

XMAS-1983: The box label has 3 dagger characters in front of XMAS-1983,
ILLUSTRATED, COLLECTORS' ROLL, LIMITED EDITION. The roll label has
in addition 1. Joy To The World, 2. Silent Night, 3. Jingle Bells, and
TEMPO 80 at the bottom. Both labels are printed in red ink.

XMAS-1984: The roll label has 3 dagger characters in front of XMAS-1984,
ILLUSTRATED, COLLECTORS' ROLL, LIMITED EDITION, Selections from
Tchaikowsky's Nutcracker Suite. The roll label has in addition TEMPO
55 at the bottom. Both labels are printed in red ink.

XMAS-1987: The box label has above XMAS-1987 the word Instrumental,
below is ILLUSTRATED in smaller type, COLLECTORS' ROLL, Limited Edition
(in italics), O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM, HERE COMES SANTA CLAUS, BLUE
CHRISTMAS, THE FIRST NOEL, MERRY CHRISTMAS POLKA and is printed in
black ink. The roll label is larger than the box label and is printed
in red ink. It has TEMPO 80 under the titles. Below TEMPO is the
patent pending logo followed by '87 Q-R-S MUSIC ROLLS, Inc.

In the Q-R-S Catalog 2006-2007, pages 26-27 show the Christmas
Collectors' Rolls illustrated in full color. The rolls shown are from
1988 through 2006 and it indicates which rolls are still in stock and
which rolls are sold out. I have an extra copy of the catalog for sale
if anyone is interested in it.

Probably more than you ever wanted to know.
