Wurlitzer 150 Roll "Louis May's Special #101"
By John J. Breen

While I was out of town, there was a discussion about Sousa's
"The Thunderer" march in Wurlitzer 150 rolls. As was mentioned in
the 110619 issue of MMD, that tune was only available on two special
rolls, one of which was the "Louis May's Special #101".

For the past several years I have been scanning Violano, "G" and
Wurlitzer Style 150 rolls for use on my own machines. As it turns
out, one roll that I borrowed and scanned was this roll. Therefore,
I have MIDI files for the Wurlitzer roll, either in scan order or
crude playable form.

Because I do not have a simulator for a band organ, the "playable"
files do not turn on bells or have the correct pipe sounds and the
tempo might be off, but they are listenable to hear what the basic
arrangement is like. The roll order files have feeder positions and
MIDI notes directly mapped so that note 1 is feeder position 1 and so
on. I would be more than happy to share these files with anyone who
can use them, either to run a perforator or to play on a MIDI enabled
organ.

I know of at least one copy of this roll (the one I scanned) that
I could probably convince the owner to loan if someone wanted to recut
the roll.
