Ampico B Won't Play Softest Notes
By Eugene Welage

There was an updated version of pages 52-54 related to the Ampico B
rewind and repeat system which obviously was in a later printing of the
service manual. Was there an updated printing that also shows the 1st
Intensity Adjuster (Fig. 5) redesigned for the Normal/Subdued switch in
the Ampico B drawer?

I have a Chickering with the B mechanism with an updated adjuster which
needs repairing. This adjuster block has four additional tubes, two on
top and two on the side. I will appreciate your return email for any
information to ewelage@roadrunner.com.geentroep [delete ".geentroep"
to reply].

Thanks, Gene Welage

[ I designed the modified Ampico B rewind and repeat logic described
 [ at http://www.mmdigest.com/Gallery/Tech/Ampico/amp52m.htm for more
[ reliable re-play of my mid-1930s Weber Ampico B. It works very well.

[ The Ampico B Normal/Subdued switch is described and illustrated at

[ Other versions might exist; to my knowledge none were documented
[ by Ampico or Aeolian American Corp.
