Seek Ampico A Stack for Chickering Grand
By Frank Velayos

I'm looking for an Ampico A chest to fit a 1925 5'-4" Chickering.
The chest doesn't necessarily have to come from a Chickering, as
I am willing to make adjustments to fit. I am giving some important
measurements that should be met or at least come close.

There should be four groups of metal buttons (to push the keys)
ideally containing 23, 20, 21 and 19 buttons each, with gaps between
each group. If you measure from the centerline of the first button to
the centerline of the last button on each group you should come up with
11-3/4", 9-1/2", 9-3/4", and 8-3/4". The three gaps should be 1-3/4",
1-7/16", and 1-3/16" between the 23 and 20 group, the 20 and 21 group
and the 21 and 19 group respectively, also measured between the
centerlines of the last and the first buttons of adjacent groups.

As a final check, the distance between the centerlines of the first
and last button on the chest should come close to 44-1/8". Hope this
is not too confusing. I can handle some discrepancies, like one or
two buttons more or less on each group, or some measurements off by 1/2"
or so, so if you have something you think I can use, please contact me
at fvelayos@comcast.net.geentroep [delete ".geentroep" to reply].

P.S.: I would prefer an unrestored chest. "Restored" ones are often
impossible to rework due to the adhesives used. Thank you.
