PPCo No. 8 Thin Wall Rubber Tubing
By Don Teach

It is my understanding that some sizes of tubing are no longer
available. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Several of us are looking into having a run of tubing made. This
was formerly known as Player Piano Co. (PPCo) part number 8. This
is the [undersize] 1/4-inch I.D. rubber tubing with 3/64" thin wall
that is no longer available from any supplier, to my knowledge.

PPCo tubing was Santoprene tubing that was made with undersized dies
so it would be tight on player piano nipples and not slip off. This
Santoprene tubing is available in normal sizes from supply houses but
it tends to slip off player nipples and has a thick wall so it will
not work in some player mechanisms such as the Encore Banjo and
Wurlitzer. Does anyone need 1/4-inch tubing with a thin wall?

If this goes well then we would like a core group that would be
interested in splitting some other tubing orders. The minimum run
is 15,000 feet. The price for this tubing would run somewhere around
$0.30 per foot.

If you can buy in at $200.00 please call me or let me know as soon
as possible so we can get this project rolling. If this project is
successful then we would like to have other sizes rubber tubing made.
