Ampico Ampichron Clock Tubing Connections
By Robert Broze

Here is my partial progress report on tracking the Ampichron Clock
tubing connections and logic.

My Knabe Ampico has a fully functional Ampichron clock with Chimes
roll. The clock stopped but is now fixed after I removed factory
installed clock (tight fit) and repaired the clock to Telechron clock
fitting (loose set screw on worm gear).

Before taking out the clock I started to make a vacuum tubing diagram
and logic diagram; I'm still not finished after two days!

Has any MMD person ever located the vacuum tubing diagram? If you did
I would greatly appreciate you emailing or mailing me a copy. I can
also send you a copy of my diagram when I finish.

So far I have some partial understanding of the logic for the two
extra pneumatics installed on the back of the drawer. The 0-T hole
(on chimes roll, after a tune) triggers the two pneumatics to turn on
the vacuum to the tube connection on the left side (top view) of the
Ampichron clock. This, in turn, activates the pneumatic in the clock
to turn off the mercury switch in the clock (right side, top view).
This mercury switch is in series with the left side mercury switch and
the main power switch. If any of these switches is off, the piano is
off.
