Replacement Motors for Electric Player Pianos
By Earl Hennagir

Umm, is it just me, or am I the only one that would not go to bed
with my player piano running? It just seems kind of stupid to me to
not make sure the thing has shut off at the end of the song or roll
before leaving the house or going to bed. I used to have an upright
Ampico and once in a great while it would not shut off at the end of
a roll. Might seem like kind of harsh words, but really, isn't a
little bit of common sense in order with these instruments?

I usually unplug all that stuff before I go on vacation or if I know
I'm not going to be playing it for a long time. I also have my
nickelodeon plugged into a fused cord with a switch so it's easy to
shut off if it needs to be. It's also sitting next to the piano on the
floor so anyone that wouldn't know a thing about the piano would be
able to see where it's plugged in and how to shut it off if they had to.

I had the belt jump off my nickelodeon one time when it was re-winding
the roll, and it ran for a awhile before I realized what it had done.
It was not for very long, and it probably would have been okay if it
had run for a few hours. But really, put an outlet timer on the thing
or something if you have to go to bed with your piano playing.

Good luck now,
Earl Hennagir
