National Acoustical "Tootsday"
By Stephen Kent Goodman

Here's an idea for those who routinely participate in band organ and
calliope rallies: plan an annual National Acoustical "Tootsday" where
by using cellphones, organ and calliope owners would all synchronize
their rallies to perform programs related to both holidays and other
special events by time zone.

After the performance venues were secured, a time could be agreed upon
(say noon in one time zone, 1 in another, 2 in the next and finally 3).
At that point, the rally would commence and all these instruments are
heard in all three time zones with multiple locations simultaneously.

This would be a "happy" press-worthy event, designed to both call
attention to these wonderful instruments and their role in America's
past technological triumphs, the importance and pleasure of acoustic
outdoor music, as well as the integration of old technology with the
latest by syncing everything by cell phone clocks and communications.
These events could be documented by video and put together on YouTube
as well.

In this era of horrific news events, let's create a little happiness
that harkens back to happier times!
