Sealant for Valve Seats & Plates
By Jeff Davis

What is the choice of sealant to apply between Standard secondary valve
plates and the board they are all screwed to? I have used in the past
shellac, lacquer, and others that I no longer remember.

I am looking for something that doesn't set up too fast, like hot glue,
nor too slow, like shellac. I want something with body so that minor
blemishes can be filled. I also want something that sets up "brittle"
so that the joint breaks before the valve plate bends. I want something
with work time so that I may install a number of valves at a time.
I want something that dries thoroughly in about a day.

Are there any good answers out there?
