FS: John Broadwood and Sons Ampico Upright
By Jonathan Holmes

A colleague in the UK and fellow MMDer has asked me to list the
following instrument for sale: John Broadwood and Sons upright Model A
Ampico in a mahogany case. Serial number 126075. The casework is in
good condition. The player requires the normal full restoration.

The piano action has already had some work done to it, including new
butt springs, new balance and notch leather, new springs and re-
centering, new felts and work to keyboard and new back touch, new
damper springs. The action now requires either new hammers or the
heads recovered to a high standard. Restringing is required, as with
all pianos of this age and the shimming of a small split in the
soundboard, which is due to a previous damp storage environment.

The piano still has a big tone. Ampico pianos are rare in the UK and
the Broadwood was the top of their range. The piano comes with no
rolls but these are easily available from many suppliers and on
auctions sites on the Internet.

The piano is priced to sell and is at present stored in my workshop, as
the owner has sold his home. Any interested parties please email me in
the first instance, when I can give you more details and supply
photographs.
