Too Cold to Run a Band Organ?
By Rich Sitler

At Hersheypark our Wurlitzer 153 plays virtually all year. I'll shut
it down tomorrow, having played all summer, and after the requisite
winter maintenance it will start up again in the beginning of April.

The carrousel pavilion is completely open so it receives no heat or
cooling. This month the temperatures haven't been much below the
20-degree mark, but other Decembers have been down in the single digits.

I can hear many of you cringing at the thought of an organ playing at
such temperatures but, good or bad, we've been doing it for the past
30 years!
