Artizan 46-key Endless Rolls Made by Wurlitzer
By Matthew Caulfield

In looking at a list of Artizan 46-key endless rolls that Wurlitzer
put out after the demise of the Artizan Factories, Inc. (1922-1929),
I noticed that many of them were single-tune rolls, which would
indicate that they were either very short rolls or very repetitious
ones.

Can anyone explain to me why a company would issue a single-tune
endless roll, especially in view of the relative difficulty of changing
endless rolls on a music machine as compared with the ease of changing
a spooled roll?

I would certainly hate to listen to the same tune over and over for
hours on end. It occurred to me that perhaps buyers would splice
several single-tune rolls into a composite roll made up of tunes of the
buyer's choosing.
