Paper to Make Music Roll
By Bob Loesch

[ Steve Bentley wrote in 150919 MMDigest, "... I cannot see why
[ this subject has anything to do with 'paper' in itself."

Here, on the west coast of California, I've been collecting many piano
rolls, both 88-note and 65-note, since about 1970. I wish more folks
had concerned themselves with the proper paper, as I've seen repairs
made from butcher paper, paper bags, Christmas wrapping paper (even
USED!), plastic raincoats, lined binder paper (complete with 3 holes!)
and sundry other materials. I have some rolls repaired during the war
years, in which I'll excuse the poor paper, as at least they tried to
have music!
