Drum Mechanism in Residential Barrel Organ
By Jim Quashnock

I have a Broderip & Wilkinson residential barrel organ. I've restored
the action and it plays well. However, the previous owner had worked
on the mechanism for the drum and triangle. It's hard to tell what's
original and what is not.

Neither of these items play well, particularly the drum. The way it
is set up now, the roughly 12" long drum sticks are being moved
directly by the small pin on the barrel. That's a lot of leverage.
As such, the return spring is very weak and the drum is hardly heard.

Would anyone out there have a similar instrument that has not had these
two items messed with? This is a Model 15 with 18 notes plus drum and
triangle. I've provided a link to a picture of the interior with the
drum removed. Thanks for any help.
