Dispersing Randolph Herr Collection - A Sad Story
By Eliyahu Shahar

[Ref. Don Teach in 170204 MMDigest]

I called Randolph Herr's brother about the pianos and was immediately
put off by his attitude. It seemed like he believed that they were all
solid gold and he was trying to milk them all for every dollar that he
could. It seemed he had no respect for the instruments but only the
money he could get out of them. He also was only prepared to give
pictures of the stars of the collection and not the simpler
instruments.

I didn't know Randolph Herr well, but my few dealings with him were
very pleasant and helpful.

Eli Shahar
