Blower for Organ Pipe Voicing Chest
By Craig Smith

Hi Sam, If you hook that blower up to the wind chest directly, you'll
probably blow the pipes right out of the holes. More information is
needed. What's the largest pipe you might like to play and what is the
wind pressure needed?

Sure, the regulator will reduce/regulate the pressure but too large
a blower will make a lot of noise blowing the excess wind out of the
overflow valve. Of course, you can put a Variac in the line and
throttle it back to just more air than you really need. Make sure that
you put a pressure meter (Magnehelic?) on the chest so you know what
pressure you really have.

I use an Ametek blower that I got from 'Surplus Center' years ago. It
has a DC voltage controller so I can adjust its speed. I also have a
moveable spring on the regulator so I can adjust the pressure. e-Bay
has lots of Magnehelic gauges. Get one that just exceeds the expected
maximum pressure you anticipate. I have about 10 of them for various
ranges.

Regards,
Craig Smith
