| Dear Sir, I have been directed to your forum and you as a matter
of last resort. I got your website reference from John who is my
Facebook friend sharing our mutual interests of mechanical music.
However my interest is something different and specific.
I am into collecting antique mechanical musical clocks and recently
I bought a very rare English clock, circa 1775, which has 6 tunes
playing on 11 bells and 23 hammers. However the pinned musical
cylinder which activates the hammers are all broken, with _no_ trace
on the cylinder. Possibly the cylinder may have been new, or someone
has sanded the cylinder.
I have to restore the clock and don't know how to go about re-pinning
the cylinder. My person here can make cast and tuned bells but
positioning of pins to be able to play 6 tunes depending upon choice
is [needing] some expertise.
I earnestly request your help in getting the cylinders pinned. I am
not a dealer, all this is for pure love of horology at considerable
cost to self! Once I have heard from you, I will send you the photos
required and we can go forward.
Hoping that you would help a fellow seeker and collector interested
in preserving mechanical musical stuff,
Warm regards,
Saurabh C Mitra
