IRC (Chat Group) for Piano Technicians
By Colin McCullough, forwarded by Terry Smythe
From: email@example.com To: ALL Orig: MBNETThere will now be a discussion group for piano tuners and technicians on the Internet Relay Chat network! Every Tuesday night at 9:00pm East, topics covered will include PTG, troubleshooting advice, as well as a great variety of shared advice and general piano talk. This will also be an opportunity for piano owners to ask questions and get answers from us- without bothering with the delays of Usenet Postings.
Subj: ATTN All Piano Tuner-Tech Area: 0-sic.makers.piano Date: 10/28/95
Please join me and other piano tuner-technicians on the IRC channel, Pianos, every Tuesday at 9pm. Here's a chance to help each other and those in great need of it!
[ Editor's Note:
[ IRC -- or Internet Relay Chat -- is the closest thing to "CB" Radio
[ that the Internet has. Unlike chat "rooms" on some of the online services,
[ IRC is supposed to be available (interactively) to anyone on the Internet,
[ regardless of who their service provider is. I have never investigated
[ how to use IRC -- up to now I thought it was mostly used by poeple discussing
[ games and things of "questionable repute". This topic certainly could
[ change my opinion of IRC, especially if some non-novice technicians
[ Have any of you used IRC, and if so, could you explain how to use it.
[ I guess I was expecting an address to go along with the time...
[ P.S. If any of you should participate in this chat session, if you could possibly
[ "capture" the session and forward it to us ?
