Chittison Recordings (Digest 96.07.10)
By Paul Johnson

Marc S.

I've never heard of any rolls that were cut by Chittison but maybe someone else out there has more information. John Farrell of England has cut at least one of Chitton's performances onto roll but I can't name it without checking the collection.

The good news is that there is a whole CD of Chittison material on the Classics CD label. It's called `Herman Chittison 1933 - 1941' #690. His performances of Harlem Rhythm Dance and Nagasaki are truly amazing. I picked up my copy at a Tower Record store but also try Worlds Records out of San Rafael CA.

Hope this helps and hope you have luck locating the CD - it's well worth twice the price.
