Re: Roll Punching Projects:
By Ed Kigler

Several articles have been sent on this subject over the last few weeks. I recently saw an ad by:

VISION & MOTION SURPLUS
Marlboro, MA,

1-800-471-0747

for a $99 linear motion mechanism with a frame, 15 inch motion, .005 inch accuracy. I would think that anyone with a 150+ I.Q. & computer/mechanical aptitude could connect this item with a surplus wide carriage printer for vertical paper movement and record hole punch positions with a simple optical detector. Replacing the detector with a pneumatic or electromagnetic punch, he should be able to duplicate the punchings on a blank paper roll, or compose his own music on the computer. By connecting two of these units together, you could duplicate a roll directly.
