By Robbie Rhodes

These are some classic books about our hobby published by Vestal Press:

Put Another Nickel In, by Q. David Bowers, Vestal Press, 1966

Encyclopedia of Automatic Musical Instruments, by Q. David Bowers,
  Vestal Press, 1972, ISBN 0-911572-08-2

Piano Servicing, Tuning and Rebuilding, by Arthur A. Reblitz,
  Vestal Press, 1976, ISBN 1-879511-02-9

Player Piano Servicing and Rebuilding, by Arthur Reblitz,
  Vestal Press, ISBN 0-911572-41-4

The American Reed Organ, by Robert F. Gellerman, Vestal Press

Treasures of Mechanical Music, by Arthur A. Reblitz and
  Q. David Bowers, Vestal Press, 1981, ISBN 0-911572-20-1

Address:  The Vestal Press, Ltd., P.O. Box 97, Vestal, NY 13851-0097, tel (607) 797-4872,  fax (607) 797-4898.  Current price and availability unknown.  ("Treasures..." is long out-of-print and quite scarce used.)

This list is simply a starting point; we need more input from our readers.  What do _you_ recommend to the newcomer for information about the music box, or player piano, or organ or jukebox or ... :)

What book do like like for rebuilding tips and practical how-to-do-it information?  Many techs have recommended the rebuilding books by Art Reblitz.

A good book full of ideas as well as lots of practical tips is "The Orchestrion Builder's Manual and Pneumatics Handbook", by our member Craig Brougher, available from him at 3500 Claremont Ave., Independence, MO 64052.

MMD published in Digest 970807 a big list of sources of supplies, titled "Updated Mechanical Music List (Paul Johnson)".  Use your web browser to retreive the issue at
