Introduction
By Peter Coggins

Hello everyone, My name is Peter Coggins and I live in Blaxland, Australia (Blue Mtns). I started getting involved with players about four years ago when I bought one out of curiosity and wanted to get it working. I'm also interested in computers (since '286 days) but am new to the 'Net, so I am still working all this Email stuff out. I found this group by a word search on 'Pianola' in Excite, which took me to a place in Mildura (Aust.) who had a link to here.

I have restored six players so far, three normal, two Recordos and a Duo-Art. Currently I have a Victor (Laffargue in America) Recordo and a Steck Duo-Art which makes my house pretty full. Another hobby of mine is restoring old valve radios, of which there is nine here at the moment. These are certainly a blessing to move and store compared to players!

I like to do things the original way with glues and cloths and shellac finishes, etc., probably because I was taught by a bloke who has been repairing for almost 40 years. I have a liking for Amphion actions, although I am very impressed by the Duo-Art system. I find very little information on Recordos although there must have been a lot of these made, and I think is quite a reasonable expression system if adjusted correctly.

What I have seen of this Digest so far looks good with lots of interesting stuff to read about and comment on. It seems to be a very diverse group and I am looking forward to hours of reading.
