65-Note Rolls
By Meta Brown

Andy Taylor asked:

> Has anyone out there heard 65-note recordings?

Sure, I have. The first piano my family bought was a 65-note upright
pumper which sounds grand. My parents still have that piano. It was the
gateway instrument that led us to the harder stuff: reproducing pianos,
music boxes, even a PianoLodeon.

> Are they worth the expense and effort to preserve and convert?

Of course they are worth preserving. If you can't use them yourself,
find them a good home. Conversion is not, in my opinion, a high priority,
but as long as the rolls are preserved, that option will always remain
open.
