Passing of Hans Hoffman
By Ron Bopp

One of our favorite organ grinders, and a real close friend of mine, Hans
Hoffman, of Park Ridge IL, passed away Friday, October 10.

He could be found at most organ rallies playing either his Raffin trumpet
organ or his Hofbauer trumpet organ. He was a very gentle man and never
had anything bad to say about anyone. He died suddenly of a heart attack
at the age of 71.

Hans was at nearly every organ rally anywhere with his gracious wife,
Inga, during the past decade. He was the embodiment of cheerfulness,
and there couldn't be a more sincere person to be found anywhere. His
enthusiasm for sharing the music was unbridled. He always ended time
at an organ rally with an inspiring rendition of Amazing Grace.

Hans leaves behind a wonderful wife and a lovely daughter, Lisa.
Arrangements by the family include only a small graveside funeral with
no visitation.

MBSI Mid-America Chapter is planning a special tribute in his honor.
Possibilities of donations into a fund to provide a special project,
such reprinting an out-of-print book, are being considered, and I will
pass this information on to MMD when I know more.
