Every year here in Arlington, Texas there are two book fairs. I started
going to these fairs about three years ago. Over the years I have found
two items of interest to MMD subscribers.
The very first book fair I attended I really hit the jackpot. A small
book, titled
"CATALOG OF MUSIC for THE PIANOLA and PIANOLA PIANO"
   JVLY 1905
   vol. 1
   THE AEOLIAN COMMPANY
   AEOLIAN HALL, 362 FIFTH AVENUE
   NEAR 34th STREET, NEW YORK.
The price? $3.00. I snapped it up real quick. (caps as in title)
The other day I went to another fair. I picked up a small paperback
book, titled "CHRISTIE'S OLD ORGAN", by MRS. O.F. WALTON.
The first sentence induced me to buy it: "'Home, sweet home, there's no
place like home, there's no place like home,' played the unmusical notes
of a barrel-organ at the top of a lodging house in a dreary back
street.".
As it turns out, it is a religious book, and the barrel organ is a major
character in about the first one-third of the story. Interesting,
nonetheless. I picked this one up for $1.00 (again, caps as in title)
I think my $4.00 is well-spent, don't you?
