Seek Early Wurlitzer Music Roll Mechanism
By Art Reblitz

Does anyone out there have an early 3-tune or 5-tune Wurlitzer band
organ spoolbox with wooden sides, either for sale or available for me
to borrow? I don't need the tracker bar. A similar, but not identical
unit was also used in early Pianinos and Mandolin Quartettes.

In 1976 we restored the Wurlitzer "Monster" band organ in the carousel
in Burlington, Colorado. It had been converted to play 165 rolls many
years ago, and we left it that way. Now we're converting it back to
the original Style 155 rolls and replacing the missing trumpet and
trombone resonators, which had been removed to make room for the taller
10-tune 165 roll mechanism.

Dr. Bill Black has kindly made photos and plans from the original roll
mechanism in his "Monster" organ, and we're about to make a new spoolbox
from this information. If anyone has a complete unit or any parts for
sale or loan, it would be very helpful. Even being able to borrow one
to have the castings copied would help. Thanks for your help.

Best regards,
