Two weeks ago I received a piano for conversation from a pumper to
a long-roll frame to play "A" rolls. The piano will be used in a
"saloon" at a local tourist attraction and while the live pianist takes
a break, the piano will play automatically.
As the truck with the piano came though the gate I asked the driver
where the lid to the piano was. "On top, where it's supposed to be."
"No, it isn't."
He jumped out of the cab and climbed quickly to the bed of the truck.
"(Expletive deleted)", he said, "they're gonna fire me for this."
"If I were you, young man, I would be more concerned about whose
windshield the lid is sticking out of right now, not your job. Either
that or cars on Interstate 35 are dodging it right now," I added.
I calmed him down as I was going to have to modify the upper part of
the case anyway and make an extension for the top ... now I have to
make a new one.
Wonder if he will ever move a piano again without a strap over the lid?
