| I was offered a very nice 1938 Mason and Hamlin Grand. It never had a
player unit of any kind. The piano seems to be in very good condition,
has been regularly tuned, cleaned, and well kept.
Since many of you have installed MIDI units, I was wondering how much
of a task it would be to install some sort of unit that would play
Ampico rolls from a disk?
I have seen several disk operated pianos, and have not been impressed
with the results compared with that of an actual Ampico pneumatic unit,
but I understand they are improving.
I would welcome any suggestions.

[ I do hope that sometime you can hear a properly maintained Yamaha
[ Disklavier, Bruce; I think you will approve ! The first modern
[ solenoid player system to reach significant production was the
[ Marantz Pianocorder; that was almost 20 years ago, and the
[ technology has slowly but surely improved without increasing the
[ cost. The Yamaha Disklavier is not available as a separate kit,
[ but the PianoDisc and QRS Pianomation units are both attractive
 [ alternatives. -- Robbie
