Subject: Steam Calliope
Dear Jody, I have in my possession a steam calliope. it was built by my uncle
in 1962 and is situated on the back of a truck trailer. It has been decorated
externally with a circus motif and is quite loud and large. We have taken it
up and down the east coast to parades, fairs and the like. My father passed
away 5 years ago and I am trying to find a home/buyer for it...
Do you know of anyone I might contact???
[ I asked for a picture and contact information...
Jody, I am sending you a picture of the steam calliope. We are located
in Pa. and my phone number is 717 766-4421. It is played with a
keyboard and has a large boiler. I am not quite sure of its size but
it is routinely inspected if that has any meaning. I could find out
for you but I will need some time. It has about 40 some solid brass
keys. The boiler heats by the use of a generator. We have lights
for the evening events which color the steam. I am most interested
in marketing it and would appreciate any direction that you might be
able to give me.
Thanks so very much!!

[ This appears to be to be the grand-daddy of all land-based steam
[ calliopes. I have placed the picture on the MMD Pictures page as:

[
[ I have asked Kathy to send me an audio recording that I can digitize
[ and put on the Website. Please let us know if you know of anyone who
[ might be interested in purchasing this instrument.
[
[ I wonder if any of our east coast subscribers have ever seen (or
[ heard) it ? Do we know anyone qualified to "fire it up" ? -- Jody
