| Hi all, I have been a subscriber for several weeks, and have read
most of the archives, so I guess it is time for an intro.
My name is Tom Dawson. I own Dawson's Antiques in Washington, Iowa.
I have been collecting and restoring mechanical instruments, phono-
graphs, and radios since I was sixteen (30 years ago). I have been
doing restorations professionally for the past 27 years. (I rebuilt
players while in college and kept actions under my bed in the dorm!)
A few of my favorites in my collection include: a Steck 6-foot
grand Metrostyle-Themodist (foot pumped) piano. a Wilcox & White
player organ, a Wurlitzer 105 Military Band organ, Tanzbaer
concertina, and many smaller mechanical machines as well as 100 or
more antique phonographs. (My wife keeps saying "enough is enough,"
but I keep slipping another one in now and then.)
I hope to continue to enjoy MMD and would like to take part when the
spirit or subject matter moves me.
Thanks
Tom Dawson

[ A belated "Welcome" to MMD, Tom. Your introduction should have
[ appeared in MMD for 6 Nov. but it was inadvertently deleted in
[ editing! My apologies. Please tell us more about your activities
[ sometime. I'd like to know more about the Tanzbaer player
[ concertina: what do folks say when they see and hear it, and then
[ try to play it? :-) -- Robbie
