Christmas Band Organ Music
By Bill Finch

A most unusual (CD) recording of Christmas music played by a Wurlitzer
146A is available from Marion Roehl (Wurlitzer Christmas Carol Music
#1026 ).

As most of you know the scale on a 146A is rather incomplete, so
arranging music for this instrument is quite a challenge. Wayne Holton
grew up surrounded by a collection of large European organs with
chromatic scales. As a kid he developed quite an ear for the European
sound. As a young adult he has been artistically successful arranging
music for European carousel, fair ground, and dance-hall organs.

Wayne arranged 28 Christmas carols for the Wurlitzer 150 scale that
retain that European flavor despite scale limits. I believe that Mike
Kitner and his mother (Edith) actually cut the paper. Harvey and
Marion Roehl played the roll on their 146A (bells and all) for the CD.

It is a phenomenon worthy of investigation. You'll like it. In fact
if you're familiar with the Wurlitzer 150 scale you'll be impressed
with what Wayne has done.

This is not an ad, but I think that 607-797-9062 is the correct phone
number to get a copy.
