Plans for Steam Calliope
By Tom Griffith

[ Jason Isom inquired about calliope plans in MMD 990112. ]

The June 1977 issue of "Live Steam" had as their feature article a
piece on building a steam calliope. Steam valves and bells are de-
scribed, dimensioned and shown in sufficient detail and could be made
without castings.

The author is Andrew G. Thompson, who was in high school when he wrote
the article. For a period of time he even sold castings, made by his
father, for the valves described in the article. His family lived in
Anacortes, Washington, and I believe that Andrew's father, Tommy
Thompson, was in charge of maintenance at the Anacortes refinery.
