Transparent Music Roll Paper & IR Sensors
By Craig Smith

Lee wrote to ask about his infra-red (IR) roll reader which reads right
through thin paper. Usually you don't need anywhere near the power of
an incandescent lamp to excite the receivers.

Try turning down the current on the lamp so that it just glows. Or
use a neutral density filter. Or filter out everything except the IR
and near IR so that you don't have to deal with the visible light too.
The receivers aren't all that narrow banded.

Regards,

Craig Smith
