Audio Files at Decap Herentals Web Site
By Tony Decap

Dear MMD friends, We have managed to get some MP3 files of our latest
electronic organ on our web site. They can be downloaded for free if
you'd like to listen to them, but as you will notice, the size of the
files is not that small, which may be a problem for slower connections.
There are two songs adapted from existing books, and three songs that
include audio vocals to enhance the entertainment value.

The audio recording is done by me at home on the PC, and the singing is
done by some of my friends who perform in local bands, etc. I'm sure
that there is room for improvement, but this may always be the case.
The main thing for us is the chance to venture into new ways so that
automated music can be enjoyed by a larger group of people.

We have stated before, and do so again, that this adaptation makes no
difference to the way we build pipe organs. We know that some people
are not pleased about the way this development is going. They seem to
feel that mixing things up breaks down the originality of our trade,
and consider it a one day gimmick.

We, on the other hand, like to explore new possibilities. And if you
could see the faces of the audience that came and listen to the organ
so far, you may also feel that this is not just a mad idea. The MP3
files can not give you that real-time experience, but you may get an
idea.

We welcome any remarks that you may have on this issue, and hope you
enjoy the MP3 files. Please look also at the animated light changes in
our technical page about RGB [red, green and blue computer-controlled
light]. This is an impression of how it works.

Thank you and bye for now,

[ I found "Puttin' On the Ritz" at http://www.decap.be/music.htm
[ The MPEG file plays for 1:55 minutes with good fidelity. The
[ file size is about 1.8 Mb and the connection was slow (2.3 K/sec
[ reported), so it took about six minutes to download. The hybrid
[ organ sounds nice and crisp, and it certainly recalls the classic
[ dance hall organs of Belgium. -- Robbie
