Seek .062" Music Wire for Desk Chime
By Mike Fisher

-- non-subscriber, please reply to author and MMD --

I am a maker of wood products working on a desk chime. I am reverse
engineering the product based on a 20-year-old sample. The chime is
made of a 3-inch-diameter cast-iron ring, with each wires of .0625-inch
diameter inserted into [across] it. A pendulum strikes the wires to
produce the sound.

I have tried over 10 wire samples and have paid a metallurgist $200
to test the original wire. The grain structure of the wire is different
than anything I have found on the market. Can you point me to an
expert or sources?

Thank you in advance,

Mike Fisher
