Welte-Mignon LP "Legendary Masters of the Piano"
By Mark Reinhart

Robbie, You asked about Welte-Mignon roll numbers which were recorded
on the LP "Legendary Masters of the Piano". I have also taken the
liberty of listing recording dates if known.

Most people are unaware that during the early years the recording
session dates were indicated on the roll labels. The later years were
not listed.

Charles Davis Smith collected this data and it is listed in his book,
"The Welte-Mignon, its music and musicians", co-author Richard Howe,
published by Vestal Press for AMICA, (C)1994, ISBN-1-879511-17-7

There are infrequent instances where different dates are listed,
perhaps because of label error. There are also occurrences where a
specific label did not list the recording date but that other titles
from the performer from that session are known. I have listed the
recording dates accordingly.

Mark Reinhart

[ Thanks, Mark. I'll add your data to the web page at
