Metrostyle Pointer Retrofit ?
By Jim Canavan

Has anyone ever tried to retrofit a metrostyle-type pointer onto the
tempo indicator of their non-Metrostyle piano? I have a 1925 Standard
action player, but have quite a number of rolls with the Metrostyle
line on them. Been wondering if I could get the proper tempo effects
by attaching a small piece of wire (temporarily of course) to the tempo
arrow in the spoolbox, then following the line with it while playing.
I realize different pianos have the tempo indicator in different
places in the spoolbox (mine is over on the right), so I guess I'd
have to know where to set the faux Metrostyle Pointer to begin with on
a roll. Any suggestions?
