Seek Article in "Music & Automata" Magazine
By Julie Porter

I have been able recently to combine a prior collection of "Music
and Automata" magazines with some other issues. This now brings my
collection up to issue number 16. I am, however, still missing issues
4 and 5 from 1984/1985. I now have a list of the missing articles from
an index and I am wondering if someone can copy three articles for me.

As I have an original 1916 of Jaquet-Droz & Leschot I would like a
copy the latter part of the translation that is listed as starting on
page 275 of issue 4 (vol. 1, #4, 1984) and page on page 52 of vol. 2,
#5, 1985. While I have a simple understanding of written French, the
arcane 19th century idioms of this are sometimes hard to 'comprender'.

I am also interested in an article in issue 5, page 17, on the
recovering of bird box bellows.

Does anyone know if Arthur WJG Ord-Hume is still with us, and how many
of these magazines were published? Is it still being produced?

I also have a duplicate of issue #7 (vol. 2, #7, 1986) which I am
willing to sell or trade.

I find it amusing that in 1988 I tried to create my own automata
journal and did not know that this one existed until 1999. I wonder how
many issues of my ill-fated journal, "Behind the Curtain", still exist?
There were only a few issues of that ever printed. I think The production
runs were 50 of each issue. I gave most of them away at MBSI meetings
in the 1990s and the bulk went away during a trip to the Basel fair in
1995. The rest of the research went onto my web site where it still is:
