FS: JAM Piano Rolls
By John Farrell

As some of you might already know Frank Himpsl and I have parted
company. There is nothing ominous about that: Frank is about to embark
on a new time-consuming project which will leave him very little space
for other things; we have been very good friends for many years and
shall remain so.

However there is good news. Bob Billings has generously offered to
take over from Frank; in addition, Bob will be cutting the rolls on the
new perforator which he and his brother designed and built.

The Billings name is highly respected in piano roll circles. Bob and
his wonderful wife Ginny wrote the famed Billings QRS Rollography and
other invaluable reference material (if you don't have copies your
library is woefully incomplete, get them now!) and they are probably
the leading authorities on everything pertaining to QRS and
Tel-Electric (I hope that have spelt that correctly).

The perforator is a state-of-the-art machine, producing rolls which are
comparable to the magnificent specimens cut by the Tonnesens.

As a result of the above I have made some changes to the JAM format.
Bob and I have agreed that it makes little sense to continue to release
my rolls on two labels (JAM and JazzMan). Consequently in future all
new rolls will appear on the JAM label, which hitherto have been
available only to a selected few. Henceforward JAM rolls may be
obtained by anybody who wants them, so if jazz and hot piano is your
thing, these are for you.

In addition to new titles, we shall be issuing selected titles from
previous releases which originally appeared on the JAM, JazzMan and HPC
labels. All these reissues will be made on the JazzMan label.

Details of the current offerings and how to obtain them are now on my
web site, as new titles become available these will be added to the
list.
