Dolca Campana, Cornucindan & Viula Bass
By Todd Augsburger

Henry B. Horton, famous for his invention and manufacture of mechanical
musical instruments of The Autophone Company, must have had earlier
ideas with which I am not familiar:

"The local press was filled with a description of three such novel
inventions which Mr. Horton was planning to exhibit. These were known
as the Dolca Campana, the Cornucindan, and the Viula Bass. Of the three
the Cornucindan showed the most originality, utilizing as it did, ox
horns of regular gradation." (From "The Life and Death of the Ithaca
Calendar Clock Company", James W. Gibbs, 1960.)

Does anyone have either:

1) a description or further information about these machines, or
2) an exact reference to the article(s) from which this material
was taken?

Note: The "Dolca Campana" is _not_ the same as the "Dolce Campana",
which was a piano attachment from Boardman and Gray Pianos from a few
years prior.

Thanks,
