Band Organ Is Too Loud vs. The Bottom Line
By D. L. Bullock

The kids who listen to this or any other band organ have no problem
with loud music. Have you been to a rave lately? Of course, you
haven't. But they have. They listen to music way higher than
120 dB at home, at a rave, at a concert.

The problem with the kids is they have no frame of reference for
listening to the style of music on the band organ. I have an assistant
in my shop who loves techno. He has no ability to appreciate organ
music of any kind but he is becoming more interested in it as he
listens to my CDs. I have to listen to his CDs too, until it gets
too repetitive for me, then I put my foot down and NPR or Lyn Larsen
goes back on. <grin>

If anyone reads the trade rags, discos and bars are instructed to play
the music louder and louder. People fell more like partying with the
music loud. The carousel people are now coming to the realization that
when they play the _real_ band organ music at top volume level they get
more people to ride it. They buy more beverages, and food, and
souvenirs.

The reason for playing the real organ is to increase the income from
the carousel and the gift and food shops. It affects their bottom
line. If the little high school or college twits they hire complain
they can be replaced. We are talking money here!
