Player Piano & Mechanical Music Exchange
By Joyce Brite

If you have not visited the Player Piano and Mechanical Music Exchange
(PPMME) web site recently, you may want to do so. The links have been
updated and there have been several changes made. The most significant
change is that when an advertisement is placed now, it stays posted
until the item sells. The modest advertising rate remains the same but
it is now a one-time fee.

There are several advantages of advertising with the PPMME. One of
them is including a photo with your ad thus allowing prospective buyers
to view your item. Although many of you take advantage of MMD's "free"
advertising service when listing items for sale, those items may be
posted to MMD only once and photos are not included.[*] The Player
Piano and Mechanical Music Exchange offers continuous advertising and
is updated regularly. The web site also operates during times when the
MMD is not being published. Your ad still appears even when MMD is on
vacation.

The PPMME is primarily for advertising mechanical music machines,
however, advertising for other musically-related items will also be
considered. Please write me if you have questions about any of these
items.

As always, a portion of the advertising proceeds from the Player Piano
and Mechanical Music Exchange goes to help support publication of the
Mechanical Music Digest. Placing a For Sale' ad with the PPMME is a
good way to support MMD while deriving benefits for yourself from the
sale of the item.

I continue to offer John Kleinbauer's set of plans for "How to Build a
Simple Mechanical Organ." The illustration of the organ has been
replaced with a photograph of it. If you have wondered what a
completed organ looks like, the photo may be viewed at the web site.

One of the major changes to the Player Piano and Mechanical Music
Exchange during the past year is the addition of music-related books
and songbooks, many of which are out-of-print or hard to find. I
recently acquired a nice collection of music books and am working on
cataloguing and posting them. If you don't see a title that interests
you today, please check back later or write to me with any inquiries.

The Books page also has links for mechanical music books published by
MMD subscribers. My hope is to consolidate these listings for these
books and other publications making it easier for you to find printed
material. If you have published a book about mechanical music and
would like to have a link on the Books page, please contact me.

A number of the books listed at the PPMME have started to show up in
internet searches. This should continue to increase as more books are
listed. The PPMME will also be linked to the much-anticipated
ABBookman web site, a move which I hope will bring more visitors to
the Books pages. All Books pages have a link going back to the Player
Piano and Mechanical Music Exchange home page with the listings of
items for sale. This gives advertisers the additional potential of
views of their ads by people who originally visited the site for the
books.

I apologize for the length of this post but there were so many changes
and additions that needed to be mentioned. The only other news item is
that I hope to have one or two more new piano rolls released by summer.
