[ I believe the English translation is by Henk DeGraauw of Canada,
[ an experienced organ-builder himself. Here is Henk's translation
[ (in draft) of the foreword by Jan Jaap Haspels:
 [
 [ Foreword
 [
[ The National Museum Van Speelklok Tot Pierement in Utrecht has
[ been asked many times for advice, information, and addresses for good
[ materials, etc., for the building of small book organs. As a result
[ of these requests, and there have been many in the last few years,
[ the Museum wrestled with the problem that here was really no clear
[ handbook, and also for interested amateurs no explicit handbook,
[ in existence where all aspects of building these small organs were
[ covered. Well, such a book exists now.
 [
[ Of course some of the content in this book does not apply in total
[ to the restoration ethic that is used by the Museum. It is kind of
[ silly to apply the Museum's standards regarding musical standards,
[ material selection, processing, and intonation, etc., onto the
 [ enthusiastic do-it yourselfer.
 [
[ This manual presents in a simple manner and with simple materials,
[ and with a large dose of inventiveness, a detailed guide on how one
[ can get a reasonable result. There was a great need for such a
 [ book.
 [
[ By studying the content of this book one does not become a Carl
[ Frei, a Dom Bedos or an Ignaz Bruder. You can start on this project
[ with unbelievable pleasure and, I can assure you, unless you have
[ two left hands and you precisely follow the construction details,
[ you can get a result that will sound like a clock (no pun intended).
